Lozada Jr., only 22-years-old,
put on an impressive performance
and floored Valezuela three
times, ending the bout with a
powerful bodyshot at 1:02 of the
round. The new WBF Champion is
now 28-1 (24), while the beaten
man drops to 28-14-1 (16).
The fight was promoted by Baja
Boxing in cooperation with
Promociones Del Pueblo. Televisa
broadcasted the bout live
throughout Mexico. Lozada will
be elevated to full world
champion if Ali Funeka does not
make a defense before the end of
the year. In case he does, the
winner of such fight must face
Lozada next.
Hizni Altunkaya retained the
Interim World Cruiserweight
title with a fourth round
knockout of Hungarian challenger
Attila Palko at the Sporthalle
Niederbieber in Neuwied,
Germany. With the victory he
improved his undefeated record
to 21-0 (13), and Palko fell to
15-4 (12).
The 24-year-old Turkish-born
champion started the fight
nervous, and took unnecessary
risks, which resulted in Palko
being successful with several
shots. However, in the fourth
round Altunkaya seemed to wake
up from his daze, and floored
Palko with a beautiful body-head
combination.
Palko beat the count of referee
Toni Tiberi, but the end was
near as Altunkaya attacked
mercilessly, fired from all
angles and send his foe to the
canvass for the second time.
This time Tiberi counted ten,
and waved the affair over at
2:45 of the stanza.
Altunkaya, who’s older brother
Turhan promoted the event, can
now look forward to fighting for
the full world title in the near
future. Current champ is South
Africa-based Congolese Ilunga
Makabu, who will either have to
defend against Altunkaya or
relinquish the belt. |
