Sergio Sotelo of Tijuana, Mexico has been appointed World Boxing Federation Coordinator for Central America, covering the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.

The 49-year-old Sotelo looks back on an extensive career in professional boxing and co-managed, amongst many other fighters, the five-times world featherweight champion Manuel Medina. Sotelo already was instrumental in Mexican legend Erik Morales, in his role as promoter under the Boxe Latino banner, staging the recent WBFed world strawweight championship.

Howard Goldberg, World Boxing Federation president from South Africa, was delighted with the appointment, saying:

“It’s a testament of the quality work we are doing that the WBFed is growing now also in Central America. I’m sure Sergio will prove to be a very valuable assett in the ever-increasing World Boxing Federation family.”
