A Hammer Night In Slovenia?

She is just 20 years old, but already the # 1 female middleweight in the world - and now she wants to be crowned! The talk is about undefeated Christina Hammer, 8-0 (6), and the beauty from Dortmund, Germany shoots for the WBF world middleweight title when she clashes with Hungary's Diana Kiss on Feb. 18 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Kiss is no slouch either, despite two losses on her 6-2-1 (5) record, as her boxrec # 3 world rating proves. Incredibly, one of her two reservals came against the world's top light heavyweight two years ago when her countrywoman Zita Zatyko outpointed her. In the rematch just two weeks later, Kiss gained a draw and this proves she certainly won't be at a physical disadvantage against Hammer, who is a small middleweight.

If Hammer indeed captures the title, she will become the third current World Boxing Federation female world champion for manager Ulf Steinforth, who already has WBF world heavyweight champion Natascha Ragosina and WBF world super featherweight champion Ramona Kuehne on his roster.

Also on the same show in Ljubljana, hometown hero Denis Simcic, 25-1 (14), will make the second defense of his WBF International light heavyweight title against teak-tough Georgian Sandro Siproshvili, 24-7 (11). The 29-year-old Simcic won the belt last September against Istvan Varga (KO 9) at the same venue and defended once in November against Jindrich Velecky (W 10) in Germany. However, these two are certainly a league below Siproshvili.

"Denis now must beat such dangerous opponents, otherwise he will not get the opportunity to challenge for the WBF world title," says Simcic' trainer Dirk Dzemski.
