“Age is just a number…If you
believe it, you will achieve
it!” - Hassan Chitsaz
Born in Teheran in the country
of Iran on November 28, 1957,
depending on who you are
speaking with, he is either the
oldest or second oldest active
boxer in the world. Rick Myers,
out of Illinois, lays claim to
the distinction of being the
oldest, however, Hassan is
active and dares any of the
current belt holders to get in
the ring with him. His boxing
record is 21 wins, all knockout
victories. |
|
Hassan suffered his lone loss in
2010 when he extended his hand
to his opponent, John Ellis, to
begin the bout and Ellis struck
fast and hard to the
unsuspecting Chitsaz. The
referee counted to ten as Hassan
was rising, more startled than
hurt.
Needless to say Hassan wants to
get back with Mr. Ellis to right
this wrong, however, he feels
his record proves him worthy of
a championship match against any
of the current title holders in
the heavyweight division and
does not feel this injustice
should interfere with potential
upcoming bouts.
Chitsaz, holder of many regional
titles, has the record for the
most first or second round
knockouts from the start of his
career (19), best since Edwin
Valero and Tyrone Brunson. |

Hassan has been a professional
boxer since 1994, being managed
at one time by his good friend
and confidant former WBC world
heavyweight champion Ken Norton.
Chitsaz now manages himself and
lists Norton as one of his
advisors. Taking boxing more
seriously than in the past, he
is determined to prove his worth
and show the experience of
working for decades in
professional security as
personal bodyguard for
dignitaries, celebrities and
public figures such as Danny
Glover, Frank Sinatra and
Michael Jackson.
This young man of 54 years of
age feels he is still agile,
crafty and powerful enough to be
a legitimate challenge to any of
the top contenders or champions.
Hassan states, “The reason I’m
fighting at this age is because
nothing is impossible in our
life…you can do anything if you
put your mind to it. Age is just
a number, if you believe it, you
will achieve it. Goals and
dreams never end, you have to go
after it at any age, and you are
never too late. My dream, my
goal, is to one day, soon very
soon, be a heavyweight champion
of the world. I will get it, no
matter what!”. The champions had
better watch out.
Hassan also stated that he is
presently unmarried and has no
children, therefore all his
concentration is devoted to
reaching the highest plateau in
boxing, his chosen profession.
Regarding his security work,
Hassan adds, “I have worked as a
body guard for almost 35 years
and I love my job. It is in my
blood, helping good people and
making them feel safe. God
Bless America and bring peace
around the world.”
