From a personal perspective I
met lots of people I had
previously emailed or called but
had never seen. At the end of
the day we were all part of a
single family all passionate
about the sport we love so much.
I was also delighted to meet top
Polish promoter Piotr Werner,
and look forward to going to
Poland next month to see our
cruiserweight world champion
Pawel Kolodziej defending his
title.
Our titles continue to be taken,
and on 21 May in South Africa,
we have an interesting match up
between Matima Molefe 9 – 1 with
6 kos v the dangerous Osubama
Akaba from Ghana, who is the
only person to have inflicted a
defeat against world # 9
Tshifiwe Munyai. I have watched
the highly talented Molefe in
action, who in addition boasts a
victory over the current South
African champion, and believe
that this fight could be a war.
Europe is flying and we are
having fights virtually on a
weekly basis. Our strategy as
an organization remains
abundantly clear – quality,
fairness, honesty, integrity and
the highest standards possible.
I certainly intend taking one
weekend off and resting at my
home in the most beautiful city
in the world – Cape Town. I
have been on three continents in
the last four weeks as duty
calls with the rapid growth of
the World Boxing Federation.
It was also interesting to hear
of some recommended places for
our next convention: Kiev,
Luxumbourg and of course Cape
Town. I would be delighted to
hear from our people as to their
preference.
